Electrowetting DisplaysFor our customer ADT (Advanced Display Technologies) Bartels microEngineering currently develops power saving displays based on the electrowetting principle. Colored droplets are being moved by an electric field and brought into position as the display's pixels. Once they reached the programmed position, no more energy is required to keep them in place. That opens a promising future perspective from indicators to large-scale applications as for example billboards. Read more about "Displays & Indicators: Droplets and Pixels" in an article from Richard Babyak, Appliance Design magazine. With bistable electrowetting binary states of single droplets can be controlled. These digital microfluidics exhibit a great potential in other sectors as well.
